You can reach Ile d’Yeu by sea from Fromentine in 45 minutes or Saint Gilles Croix de Vie in 1 hour. Once you’re here, you can do it all by bike, so don’t hesitate to rent one locally or on the mainland – they’re very popular in season.
The island of Noirmoutier
Set off for the island of Noirmoutier via the legendary Passage du Gois, accessible only at low tide or via the classic bridge. You can visit the island of Noirmoutier by bike, taking advantage of the many cycle paths available.
Breathtaking scenery awaits you!
Noirmoutier is also very popular at high tide for its fishing and for its famous ” Les Foulées Du Gois ” race, which takes place every July. The race takes place over 4 kilometers against the rising tide in a spectacular face-off between man and nature. This race, which the press has dubbed “the Paris-Roubaix aquatique” or “L’enfer vendéen” – for its fearsome cobblestones – attracts thousands of spectators to the grandstands facing the ocean, in an exceptional setting.
The island’s star products are salt and potatoes, so don’t hesitate to buy some before you leave and taste them when you get back to the campsite.
